Week 7: USS Missouri SBS-63, Refined Model

After having my previous version of the Missouri critiqued, I've been given some pointers modeling and restrictions to the poly/tri count of this model.  So the goal is to go no more than 20,000 on the tri count.  Currently at this phase of the model, its at 12,566 tris.

Week 6: USS Missouri SBS-63 First Pass

Applied diffuse textures to the ship.  Still need to isolate the poly faces on the bridge section to identify the windows.  Need to separate the weapon parts as well to add some normal map detail and the hull as well.

Week 6: USS Missouri SBS-63, UV Layout

The UV layout of the hull is going to take some time to finish and this is the biggest obstacle prior to texturing the ship.

Week 5: USS Missouri SBS-63, Newly Rebuilt Ship

Merging the look of the original World War II design with a more sci-fi look.

Week 5: USS Missouri SBS-63, Following the shape!

In this phase of redesigning the hull, I've decided to follow the shape of the original USS Missouri BB-63.  By doing so, it helps bring back the old look of the original ship, but at the same time still retaining the sci-fi look as well.

Inspiration for USS Missouri SBS-63's Foward Cannon

The Andromeda has dual forward cannons at the front of the ship.  The hexagonal shape of the cannon is what peaked my interest for the Missouri's single forward cannon.

The Yamato's forward cannon is almost completely in more rounded off shape, but more of a pentagon shape.

These two photos helped me arrived to having the forward cannon on the USS Missouri to having a hexagonal shape.

Looking at the USS Arizona's forward cannon, its a hexagonal shape.  I used the top and side blueprints of the USS Arizona to help me shape out the hull.

Week 5: USS Missouri SBS-63 Hull Plating

The USS Missouri's hull has plating all throughout the top deck, sides, underside and its rear afterburner module.

The last two photos are showing a difference between having complete hard edges as versus to all soft edges.

Week 5: USS Missouri SBS-63/ Hull Redesign

The redesigning of SBS-63's hull will be a bit more stream line, emulating the look of the old World War II battleship, USS Missouri.  Started to add plating around the hull of the ship by doing simple extrusions as versus to beveling edges.
